Welcome

I'm Laura. I am female, 31, a gamer, a bookworm, a knitter, a spinner, a tatter, pierced, tattooed, musical, vehemently geeky and occasionally ineptly artistic.

I've been bad lately. I've been neglecting The Blog.

Let's see if I can't catch things up a bit around here. In roughly chronological order:

I finished the Bat Shawl.

Dan and I took our honeymoon to Alaska:

We saw all kinds of incredible things. And we want to go back, which is perhaps the best indicator of a trip! It was a beautiful 70* nearly all the time, the exception being when we were chased off a mountain by a rainstorm. For all you who are wondering: No, it doesn't get dark during the summer. Ever. Anyone who says differently is either lying or is taking a highly suspicious slant on the word "dark."

Sea Lions:

And puffins:

And glaciers!

And humpback whales!

And an abandoned gold mine:

I showed Alaska to the sock:

And used a highly-appropriate puffin stitch marker:

We went to Windy Valley which was an adventure in itself, being on several miles of very awful dirt roads: totally unsuitable to the 21' RV which we were driving (and which we had promised not to drive on any dirt roads, ever. Oops). But I am ecstatic, because now I have

It comes from this:

I also have this from Raven Frog Fiber Arts in the colorway "Dark Winter Nights", which while not qiviut is nevertheless absolutely gorgeous:

And got home exhausted :)

The next weekend was Dan's annual family reunion, which was also tons of fun (if slightly more sunburn-y). No pictures of that, because I only remembered the camera when we'd been driving for an hour.

I'm still job-hunting. Mixed results thus far, and perhaps some personal epiphanies. Suffice to say that I may be looking for jobs which require a programming background but which do not focus solely on development. Rather similar to what I had been doing, or perhaps Sys/App Admin or Analyst roles.

I believe that brings us up to date. If I missed anything, let me know ;)
