*Edit: This was Wednesday's post. My server has been screwy lately, and wouldn't actually post it.*
Mollie the Kitten, Day 1:
Dan picked her up from the APA yesterday afternoon. Apparently she's no fonder of the cardboard kitty carriers than ...well, any other cat in my acquaintance, and mew'ed all the way home. All the APA workers and vet techs had to come out to say goodbye to her, and Dan says that he was told in no uncertain terms that he'd better take good care of her. Apparently she was somewhat of a favorite around there.
They also told him to keep an eye on her eating habits, since she didn't eat a whole lot while at the APA. She *is* thin, even for a young kitten, so we're watching her. After a few hours of getting acquainted with the house yesterday she apparently felt comfortable enough to gobble down most of a (small) can of wet food, so we're thinking that it was probably a comfort issue. Note to self: consuming a relatively large quantity of wet food after near-fast will result in positively atomic kittenshits.
She explored the house pretty thoroughly, and despite having a tendency to get herself lost while exploring a room which we're not in, seems pretty happy :) Watching her figure out "stairs" was incredibly entertaining all by itself. She likes to sit on Dan's shoulder and stare into his face*, or curl up in anything small, warm and bowl-shaped, or snuggle up to anyone willing to pet her. Not too much into kitty toys, thankfully (as neither am I). She -does- have a rather short attention span. During the day this was totally fine; at night, it becomes another thing: She slept with us last night, and got up at odd hours, burrowed completely under the covers, tried to sleep on Dan's neck, tried to sleep on *my* neck, prevented leg movement of any kind, restricted human cuddling, mew'd and generally made a nuisance of herself. I don't blame her, necessarily, but that doesn't mean I have to like it.
I am thinking that this whole 'sleeping with pets' idea is going to have to be rediscussed, and quickly. >_>
So today, I am tired, but happy. With any luck she's not tearing the house apart on her first day alone! Also, I'm getting my hair cut this afternoon, and it is MORE THAN time for it... hope that Sandra can do something interesting with this mop, or I'm going to resort to dying it crazy colors again out of sheer boredom and I don't care who doesn't like it! >:o
*resulting in being quickly nicknamed FACECAT.
